I agree that some of the apps are really uninspiring. I don't have the technical know-how to design, but even still in grad school I do think about what could make some of the apps better and inspiring.

Apps that record audio

2017-12-10T19:35:40+00:00

When I last searched there were 191 audio recording apps available on iTunes. These type of apps can be cute, such as Chippy Talk, or a bad dude like Talking Fred. The common denominator among these apps, in addition to their audio recording ability, is their interactivity with the user. Touch the animal, person, robot, [...]

Be a ground breaker designing apps

2011-08-31T10:23:00+00:00

The iPad and apps are here to stay and have the potential for dramatically altering the manner in which we provide services. The interactive ability of apps is one feature that makes it stand out from the traditional materials we have spent a small fortune accumulating. Another feature is action or moveability. Figures can move [...]

I think I'll make this post a short one. Instead of going into a lot of detail about the app, I'll give the basics and then make my recommendation.Baby Cortex,  the developer, has put out 11 apps to date of which a large number are musical apps such as Baby Piano, Baby Classical Mozart and [...]

My Very First App

2017-12-10T19:35:40+00:00

This app is based on the My Very First Books by Eric Carle.  Interestingly, the name of this vocab app was also my very first app downloaded for therapy. It was the app that taught me the lesson that there are far better free apps available. Now, I don't assume that there is a direct [...]

A great free fruit app in Fruit Find

2017-12-10T19:35:40+00:00

The first thing one may want to do when opening the Fruit Find app is hit the music note icon, located on the upper right hand side of the screen, to off. If one doesn't do this, the at first pleasant music begins to feel like a worm in one's ear.The name Fruit Find is [...]

Fruit vocab apps

2017-12-10T19:35:40+00:00

In addition to the English Baby app and kindergarten.com app for fruits and nuts, I have downloaded 3 apps that target fruit vocabulary. Two of the apps use the same illustrations and background. They both are called Fruit Book. Maybe they are created by the same company. I'm trying to figure that out. I have [...]
